The Incredible Years (IY) Program

Description of service provided:
The Incredible Years is a set of training programs for parents, teachers, and caregivers.  The program targets key developmental stages to help improve parent-child and teacher interactions.  

Four different series are available:

Babies Series:
Ages 0-12 Months

  • Becoming a parent
  • Communicating with your baby

Toddler Series:
Ages 1-3 Years

  • Child-directed play
  • Social & Emotional Coaching
  • Effective Praise
  • Handling Misbehavior

Basic Preschool Series:
Ages 3-6 Years

  • Child Directed Play
  • Coaching Skills
  • Praise & Rewards
  • Positive Discipline

School-Age Series:
Ages 6-12 Years

  • Supporting Your Child’s Education
  • Promoting Positive Behaviors
  • Reducing Inappropriate Behaviors

Geographic area of service:
Elk County

Admission criteria:
Elk County families with children ages 2-10

How consumers pay for service:
There is no charge for this service.  The program is funded by Elk County Children & Youth Services and the Children’s Trust Fund.
