Total Health Makes Contribution to Rides for Vets

Ridgway- Dickinson Center’s Total Health Program employees make contribution to Rides for Vets. The Total Health staff sponsored a fun Irish luncheon and accepted donations from all Dickinson employees to show their support for our Veteran population and the Rides for Vets service.

The Total Health Program is a bridge that incorporates behavioral health and physical health care through a team collaborative effort which includes Dickinson support services, local primary care physicians, and specialists in the region.  This program has touched over 300 lives within the past 5 years and has seen many positive outcomes for overall well-being of our clients.

The Rides for Vets has been serving Elk and Cameron counties since April 2009. This service provides volunteers to transport Veterans requiring medical care to Dubois, Altoona, Pittsburgh, Erie, Warren, Bradford, or any site which the VA refers Veterans for their care.  As per CJ Himes, Rides for Vets Secretary, “Since 2009, volunteers have driven 250,000 miles, donated 13,000 hours, taken 1,500 trips, and delivered veterans to 1800 appointments.”
