Description of service provided:
Direct service employees provided services to adults with developmental disabilities who live in community settings which include families, group homes, and Lifesharing. Services consisted of work experience and other developmental work training activities to promote movement into a higher level vocational program. Activities included: 1) training designed to teach job-related skills; 2) personal work and adjustment training designed to develop appropriate worker traits and teach an understanding of the work environment; and 3) assessments of an individual’s vocational aptitude and potential.

Elkwood Arts produced various wood products which were sold through a variety of means. Individuals received a wage based upon job completed. Some jobs paid at a sub-minimum wage level, while others would be at minimum wage or higher. Dickinson Center, Inc. maintained a sub-minimum wage certificate.

The day was structured to include individual and group work activities. Services were required to meet regulatory requirements of programs licensed under the 55 Pa. Code Chapter 2390 and fall within the Waiver Service Definitions authorized by the Office of Developmental Programs and the Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services.

Dickinson Center, Inc. has been certified as a Qualified Provider of these services by the Cameron/Elk Behavioral & Development Programs and the Office of Developmental Programs.

Geographic area of service:
Individuals that reside in Elk and Cameron counties of Pennsylvania.

Admission Criteria:
Individuals that reside in Elk and Cameron counties of Pennsylvania who have an intellectual disability/mental health diagnosis, and are age 18 and over.
